Crowns

Chipped or fractured teeth, broken down fillings, teeth that are malformed, malpositioned or discoloured: any and all of these conditions can affect your smile. Fortunately, a crown can easily restore your appearance. Crowns, or "caps", are coverings that fit over your teeth. Their purpose is to restore each tooth to its normal shape and size, while both strengthening and improving its appearance. Natural-looking porcelain attached to a durable metal shell is the most common material used to create a crown because of its strength. However, a crown could also be made of gold alloys or non-precious alloys, ceramic, acrylic or composite resin, or any combination of these. New cosmetic crowns are made of special ceramics which look far more natural. Tooth location, the position of the gum tissue, the amount of tooth that shows when you smile, the colour and shade of the tooth, and the function of the tooth are all taken into consideration when choosing which material to use.

The result is a healthy, attractive, natural-looking smile.

Bridges

Few incidents have a greater impact on your personal appearance than the loss of a tooth. But more than that, if the "hole" is left unfilled, the surrounding teeth can drift out of position or the opposing teeth can actually grow down into that space. This, in turn, can cause teeth and gums to become more susceptible to tooth decay and gum disease, which might cause further tooth loss. Plus, teeth that drift into the space left by the missing tooth, interfere with the way your teeth contact and grind during chewing, which could result in sore jaws, excessive wear, headaches, and other problems. Fortunately we offer a straightforward way to fill the gap, eliminate these potential problems, and restore your smile.

A bridge replaces missing teeth by fixing a replacement tooth (or teeth) to the natural teeth at each end of the gap. Some bridges have crowns at each end. With others, the replacement teeth are stuck just to the sides of the teeth beside the gap. Bridges are often made of metal, porcelain or ceramic materials.

Dentures

Dentures can improve the way you look, bite, chew and speak. If you're missing teeth, dentures make an affordable method of replacing them. At our Centre, we are fortunate enough to have a specialist that can help avoid the usual pitfalls of dentures. Finely crafted, well-fitted, and properly maintained dentures can appear natural and enhance your smile.

Fixing a toothless or gap-toothed smile has uncountable emotional and physical benefits. When you decide to replace teeth, you're taking a huge positive step towards improving your appearance and your health.

An alternative to dentures for replacing missing teeth are dental implants. These days many of the dentures we make are stabilised by implants.
