Frequently Asked Questions

If you want general information on a condition or treatment, click here to go to the British Dental Health Foundation's web site where they have over 40 online leaflets. If you have a specific query about the dental centre that is not answered in this section, then please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Do you provide NHS Treatment?

Treatment can be provided under NHS, where some patients will be entitled to full or partial exemption. The NHS will provide treatment necessary to secure and maintain oral health. However, some patients may elect to have treatment carried out privately.

What is Private Treatment?

Private examinations include an oral cancer screen, gum health check, tooth charting and examination.

We take the time to listen to your individual needs and after discussing options, we provide you with a no obligation treatment plan and estimate.

Private treatments enable us to spend more time with you during appointments, enabling us to carry out more complex procedures with care and attention. Our anxious patients find this particularly reassuring.

We are also able to carry out a wider range of treatment options, like safe and effective professional tooth whitening, which is very popular. The dentists here are also well experienced in treating very anxious patients, and treatment can be provided under intravenous sedation.

Do you provide emergency treatment?

If you are in pain outside surgery hours please telephone the practice, where our answer phone message will give you details of the dentist providing emergency cover.

Is your equipment sterilised?

As a caring practice we take all necessary precautions to safeguard both patients and staff against infections such as HIV and Hepatitis. We follow recommended BDA guidelines with regards to sterilisation of instruments and disposable items.

What is a Specialist Dentist?

Specialist is a dentist that has undertaken years of post-graduate training to develop a level of expertise in a particular field of dentistry. He/she will then gain extra qualifications to enable them entry onto a selected UK Specialist Register. The Specialist will be able to provide a very high level of dental care.

How do I become a patient?

Many of our patients will be referred by their general dental practitioner for specialist treatment. However, at the Dental and Implant Centre, patients can contact the practice direct and make an appointment whether they have a dentist or not.
